You think you don’t have cockroaches in your home, but there are often hidden signs of an infestation. Cockroaches are nocturnal, so when you see them during the day they are already a problem. If they come out in daylight it because their nest is overcrowded and it is harder for them to find food and water.

Cockroaches love dark moist places such as around refrigerators, under sinks or behind stoves. They have annoyingly flat bodies allow them to magically slip in under wall paper or in wall cracks. As we previously urged, don’t let American cockroaches help themselves to your property. Look for the signs of an infestation and call us for help.

One sure indicator of cockroaches is feces. It is often compared in appearance to black pepper or coffee grounds. More feces, of course, means more roaches. Roaches eat everything from garbage, to food, to dead skin cells and they have a high metabolism. They leave lots of droppings were they travel frequently. Look behind the refrigerator or along baseboards hidden behind appliances or furniture. Eliminate any source of food and water in these areas.

If a cockroach infestation is serious, the area may smell oily and musty. This is due to the level of feces and decaying cockroach bodies in the area. Dead roaches are not a sign that they are leaving, but instead shows that they continue their life cycle in your home.

Look into small spaces such as behind furniture or in between books on a shelf for small oval egg cases. They look like long brown ovals. Roaches attach these cases to places humans can’t easily get to them, such as behind furniture, in cabinets or other tight, hard to reach places. Our indoor pest control services target roaches in these difficult places.
