Bed bugs are not an enjoyable pest to have inside your home. So, when you have a business trip coming up, you should put some extra thought into your travel plans to avoid coming into contact with them. The easiest way to avoid bed bug problems is by not letting them invade your home in the first place.

Carefully Search Hotel Reviews

The first telltale sign of a bed bug warning is when you find reviews that mention them. Do not take these warnings lightly, these reviews are there to warn others of what may await them at a certain hotel. Check reviews on multiple websites to get a better idea of the experience you can expect to have. It is even better to specifically look up reviews that talk about bed bugs to see if any show up. If there are no mentions in a collection of several hundred reviews, you should feel confident about staying at the hotel.

Perform an Inspection

Once you get to your room, take care of the inspection right away. Before you bring anything inside, head over to the bed and pull off the comforter and sheets until you can see the corners of the mattress. You should be looking for red stains, as well as the bugs themselves, which are small, black critters.

Clean Luggage Thoroughly

Even after you have done plenty of research and have not had an issue throughout your hotel stay, you should still clean all of your luggage as soon as you get home. Washing and drying your clothes, scrubbing your suitcase, wiping down electronics, and rinsing any accessories will help to keep them away.

Hopefully, you do not end up with bed bugs in your home. But, if you do, contact us right away.
