Florida’s wonderful climate isn’t just great for humans – it also supports an amazing array of roach species. Unfortunately, most of these species find their way indoors even if they’re supposed to live in the woods. Here are some of the types you may want to combat with the help of a Valrico pest control professional:

  • German Roaches – These are the ones that everyone knows and hates. They’re relatively small, and even though they have wings, they can’t fly. This species is known for producing massive infestations that are typically found when their hiding places are disturbed. German roaches are also known for getting into things, crawling on people, and generally being nasty.
  • Asian Cockroaches – Asian roaches look much like the German ones. One easy way to tell them apart is simple: The Asian ones can fly!
  • Palmetto Bugs – If Florida had a pest mascot, it’d be the palmetto bug. These giants are members of the roach family, run about 2″ long, and usually live outdoors. Unlike most invasive roaches, these are attracted to light. Indoor lighting is usually the initial attractant that gets them through the door, and then they stay when they find food.
  • Florida Woods Roaches – These pests typically live outside and feed on decaying leaves, but sometimes make their way indoors. Like the ones typically referred to as palmetto bugs in central Florida, these tend to be large. Some of these have no apparent wings.

These are just three of the main types of roaches that can be found in Valrico. The state of Florida is home to at least 70 species of this particular pest, so it’s very common for homes in the state to harbor at least some of them. Fortunately, we can get rid of cockroaches of all types and kinds. Don’t give up on your desire to have a roach-free home. Instead, contact us.
