Its Termite Swarming Season.
Here’s What You Need to Know.
Its subterranean termite swarming season, and we really want our customers to know what to look out for to prevent some serious damage to your property. With that in mind, we have put together this handy guide.
What do Subterranean Termites Look Like?
Subterranean Termites come in three varieties: Workers, Swarmers, and Soldiers. Since workers tend to look the same across all termite species, here’s how to identify subterranean termite Swarmers and Soldiers.
Termite Treatment in Florida
Soldiers typically don’t have any wings. They have very large jaws and are their bodies are off white in color. Their heads are usually brown.
Swarmers on the other hand are dark brown, almost black in color. They can get up to a half inch long and have two pairs of wings, which they shed during mating season. You can sometimes find these piles of wings when an infestation is present.
Is having Subterranean Termites a big deal?
In a word, yes. These pests cause billions in damage to buildings each year, and their appetite doesn’t stop there. Anything made of paper is fair game as well. The swarm grows fast too, as many of these colonies can have multiple females laying eggs.
The biggest concern though is that they can go undetected for a long period of time. The longer they go unnoticed, the more damage they can cause. Keep an eye out for the winged swarmers… they are the ones you are most likely to spot.
Okay, how do I kill them?
Subterranean Termites are not easy to get rid of, and so we really recommend that you call us on this one. If you see little piles of wings or damaged wood, have us come out to take a look. Putting together a customized treatment plan and then going after them at their source is what we do.
TERMITE PROTECTION
Here in Central Florida we live in a high activity zone for termites. For this reason Consolidated Pest Control would like to invite you to take advantage of a special offer on Termite inspections and control. Subterranean Termites can cause a great deal of damage in a relatively short period of time. That’s why it is important for you to maintain annual inspections of your home by a trained professional. For treatment, Consolidated uses the best products that will give you the best results.
TERMIDOR
We use a product called Termidor in our treatments. Termidor is known worldwide to be the most technologically advanced and effective subterranean termite control product in the industry. Mostly because of its unique ability to adhere to exposed insects and transfer it back to the rest of the colony to provide elimination. It also has an excellent safety and environmental profile!
We are trained by the manufacturers of Termidor in the preventative trench and treat method for subterranean termite control. The process involve digging a 4×6 inch trench around the linear perimeter of your home and flood it with a liquid mixture of Termidor termiticide, then replace removed soil. Some cases may require drilling in and around your home to provide complete barrier .
This treatment will stop existing and prevent new termites from infesting and damaging your home in the future. The cost for that treatment is dependent on size of structure. This treatment comes with a 5 year re-treatment warranty. There is a mandatory annual inspection required to maintain the warranty. After 5 years a booster treatment ( approximately half of the cost of original treatment) will need to be done and that will extend the warranty another five years. We are properly licensed and insured to provide you the same protection as our much larger competitors.

Please consider the value in using this type of product that is known to provide the best protection in the industry. Your home is one of your largest investments please don’t base a decision like this solely on price. Remember in Florida it’s not if you get termites it’s when!
