For nearly 40 years, pest control companies have observed National Pest Control Month in April, to recognize and celebrate the Pest Control Industry across our great Nation, according to PCT and NPMA  NPMA-April-National-Pest-Management-Month.aspx.

This observance is to acknowledge the role that professional pest control companies play in public health, property protection and to remind people to start thinking about taking measure to prevent home and business infestations before the hottest times of the year when pests, thrive.

Says Missy Henriksen, Vice President of Public Affairs for the NPMA; “Our members often work behind the scenes, without much recognition, which is why it’s important we take the month of April to acknowledge the important work pest professionals do each and every day.”

Also partnering with the NPMA is Bob Vila, expert homebuilder.  During the month of April for the past two years, Bob Vila has been giving helpful tips to prevent pest infestations, and acknowledging the importance of consulting with professional pest control companies.  Here are a few of his ideas:

  • Walk around the entire perimeter of your home looking for any damage that may have happened during winter.  Look for cracks or damage to the concrete, wood and other structural surfaces that might allow pests a way into your home, unnoticed.
  • Eliminate standing water and clean out those gutters! Make that one of your top priorities for mosquito prevention.
  • Repair any damages you may discover, including using a silicone-based caulk around pipes and entry points for utilities.

Most importantly, call a professional pest control company to come to your home or business and do an annual inspection.

In Central Florida, or any tropical type environment, pest control takes on a whole other meaning.  If it is too, wet, pests come inside to get shelter, if it’s too, dry, they come in for moisture.  A professional pest control company, like Consolidated Pest Control, know, under what conditions, certain pests are more likely to invade your home or business.

Ants for instance.  Most parts in our nation have a couple of types of ants. Here in Central Florida, however, we have dozens.  Because our climate is summer like for most of the year, pests, like ants, thrive here.

In these climates, it is imperative to contact a professional pest control company.  They can provide barriers that keep out those ants, as well as several other types of pests, you do not want as roommates.

Contact us today at Consolidated Pest Control.  Let us show you how to live pest free this summer, in Central Florida.
