Whether you own a house or are renting an apartment, there are many factors to consider in both scenarios, and knowing how to deal with pests is one of them. From frequent mice infestations, to ants scurrying around in the kitchen, these are all to common if one doesn’t keep their residence tidy. For example, mice may be looking for shelter in the winter, while ants may be attracted to crumbs on the floor. However, not even these infestations are as severe as a fruit fly invasion. More than just attracted to fruit itself, they can invade your fridge, accumulate by the hundreds, and cause serious problems for your pets. While they’re not impossible to get rid of, it’s best to act as quickly as possible. While there are plenty of ways to get rid of fruit flies, however, vinegar works wonders.

Believe it or not, vinegar is one of the most common ways to kill fruit flies, as they’re definitely attracted to it, among other things. First of all, start off by getting a bowl and filling it with vinegar, particularly the apple cider kind. Afterwards, cover the top of the bowl in plastic wrap. Poke several holes into the wrap, and leave it on the kitchen counter overnight. Not only will the fruit flies be attracted to the smell, but they will also be effectively killed when entering the vinegar filled bowl. Depending on the number of fruit flies in your house, you may have to use several bowls just in case. Either way, it’s an effective strategy that helps eliminate these nuisances. You don’t have to limit the bowls to your kitchen either, as you should place them all around your house, especially where the flies are breeding.
