Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend waiting 2 to 3 weeks before removing any existing spider webs. This allows time for spiders to return to their webs, which have been treated, increasing the chances of effective control. It also helps ensure that any newly hatched spiderlings come into contact with the treatment.
For best results, hold off on cleaning windows and similar areas during this period as well.
We typically only treat inside cupboards if there’s a significant issue—such as a German cockroach infestation or other pests nesting there. If you’re planning to clean your cupboards, doing so before your scheduled service is ideal. It’s a great time to declutter, remove any spoiled food, and ensure all items are stored in airtight containers.
If treatment inside the cupboards is necessary, we recommend avoiding cleaning the edges and corners for 4–6 weeks to allow the product to remain effective. Once the treatment has dried (usually within a few minutes), it’s safe to return your items to the cupboards.
We recommend cleaning your floors before your scheduled pest control service—this helps the treatment bond better to surfaces and ensures longer-lasting results.
After your treatment, it’s best to avoid mopping along the perimeter areas of rooms (like skirting boards or baseboards) for 4 to 6 weeks, as this is where treatments are typically applied. However, you’re free to sweep, vacuum, and mop all other floor areas as needed—this won’t interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment.
Not at all. Rain is common during mosquito season, and treatments are often applied with rain in the forecast. As long as the product has about 10–15 minutes to dry, rainfall won’t impact its effectiveness. Here’s why:
-
Immediate Impact – Our treatment works on contact, providing instant knockdown of both mosquitoes and ticks present at the time of application.
-
Long-Lasting Protection – The products we use contain binding agents that help them adhere to grass and foliage, so they won’t be washed away by rain after drying.
Not at all. For black ants, we use Termidor, which is designed to bond securely to surfaces. Once it has dried—usually within 10 to 20 minutes—it won’t be washed away by rain. In fact, a bit of rain can actually help by encouraging ants to become more active, increasing their contact with the treatment and improving its effectiveness.
No need to worry—rain typically doesn’t affect your pest control treatment. Most applications are done around areas like windows, door frames, and weep holes, which are sheltered by the home’s overhangs and stay relatively dry. Additionally, the products we use are specially formulated with bonding agents that help them adhere to surfaces, so they don’t wash away easily—even in wet conditions.
If it rains more than 30 minutes after application, most products are designed to be absorbed and rain-resistant and most are need to be watered in after the initial product has dried on the blade.
Generally, you’ll need to mow the lawn weekly and water it on your regular schedule (usually once a week in the winter and twice a week in summer). It’s always best to ask your tech for specific preparation instructions based on your lawn. Instructions usually require application to be watered within 48 hours to be most effective.
While one-time treatments can address immediate problems, ongoing services help maintain long-term lawn health and prevent recurring issues. We can do this but do not recommend.

The amount depends on the size of your lawn and the type of fertilizer. A lawn care expert will provide guidance based on your specific needs. 4 pounds of nitrogen per thousand square feet divided over multiple applications throughout the year.
Depending on the type of fertilizer, you should see noticeable improvements in a few weeks to a couple of months. This varies on temperatures and watering habits.
Fertilizing during the winter is generally not recommended, as grass growth slows down. Fertilizing in the late fall is often a good time to prepare the lawn for winter dormancy. It is good and healthy to allow the lawn to go dormant.
The best fertilizer depends on your lawn type, but many Florida lawns benefit from slow-release nitrogen fertilizers, specifically designed for sandy soils. We use 50% slow-release fertilizer on both lawn and shrubs. We also use lucid nutritional supplements on both the lawn and shrubs.
In Florida, it’s recommended to fertilize your lawn 3-4 times a year, typically during the growing seasons (spring, summer, and fall). At Consolidated we like to use a granular fertilizer in spring and fall. In between we use a combination of liquid fertilizer and micronutrients.
